Your Hair Deserves Better:

A Simple Guide to Natural, Toxic-Free Hair Care

Ever notice how homeless people rarely seem to be bald?

It makes you wonder...

What if hair loss isn’t just about genetics, but linked to the toxic chemicals in everyday hair products? From synthetic shampoos to harsh styling treatments, we’re exposed to products that may be doing more harm than good.

Could less really be more when it comes to fuller, healthier hair?

If you’ve been searching for a clean, natural way to care for your hair, you're not alone. Here’s how I’ve taken care of my hair naturally—without shampoo or conditioner for the past three years!

Step 1: Eat Right and Ditch the Junk

Healthy hair starts from within. What you put on your plate matters just as much—if not more—than what you put on your hair.

Foods to Avoid for Healthy Hair

Say goodbye to these hair-damaging culprits:

  1. Low Protein Diets

  2. Ultra-processed foods

  3. Refined sugars

  4. Fried Foods

  5. Alcohol

These can disrupt your hormones, deplete your body of vital nutrients, and wreak havoc on your scalp and hair.

Why an Animal-Based Diet is Key

The secret to luscious hair lies in the nutrients found in whole, animal-based foods. Specifically, cholesterol is your hair’s best friend. It plays an essential role in hair growth and scalp health by supporting the production of healthy skin oils and keratin (the protein that makes up your hair).

Incorporate these nutrient-dense foods into your diet:

  1. Butter

  2. Ghee

  3. Fatty cuts of meat

By embracing an animal-based lifestyle, you’ll nourish your hair from the inside out, promoting stronger, shinier strands. Curious about how this diet works? Check out my Animal-Based Guide to start your journey today!

Step 2: Wash Your Hair Naturally

Ditch the toxic shampoos and conditioners. Most conventional products contain harsh chemicals that can strip your hair of its natural oils, leaving it dry and brittle.

Instead, keep things simple with these tips:

Daily Routine:

  1. Skip the daily washes: I often go days without washing my hair—even after sweating. Sometimes, a quick blow-dry or air-dry refreshes it beautifully.

  2. Filtered water is key: When I rinse, I only use filtered water to remove harmful chlorine and other additives found in tap water.

  3. Scalp massage: Gentle scalp massages stimulate circulation, which encourages healthy hair growth.

Biweekly Treatment:

To give your hair some extra love, try a natural mask or shampoo alternative every other week.

DIY Egg Yolk and Honey Shampoo:

This all-natural recipe is my go-to for soft, shiny, and deeply nourished hair.

Ingredients:

  1. 1 egg yolk

  2. 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

  3. 1 teaspoon Kanuka honey (I use BeeNZ —use code BAE for a discount!)

  4. 12 oz filtered water

Instructions:

  1. Whisk all ingredients together in a bowl.

  2. Apply the mixture to damp hair, massaging it gently into your scalp.

  3. Let it sit for 10 minutes.

  4. Rinse thoroughly with filtered water.

Benefits:

  1. Egg yolks are rich in biotin and healthy fats, strengthening hair strands and promoting growth.

  2. Apple cider vinegar balances your scalp’s pH, reduces dandruff, and boosts shine.

  3. Kanuka honey provides hydration, shine, combats dryness, and soothes your scalp.

When You Want Suds Without Toxins:

If you’re craving a little lather, consider tallow-based soaps that nourish your hair without harsh chemicals. Some of my favorites include:

  1. Northstar Bison Unscented Tallow Soap (use code: BAE10)

  2. Bello Tallow Charcoal Bar

  3. Hackamore Ranch Unscented Tallow Soap

These soaps gently cleanse your hair while keeping it hydrated and healthy.

The Bottom Line

No topical treatment can outshine a nutrient-rich diet. By focusing on what you eat and using simple, natural ingredients on your hair, you’ll unlock the secret to stronger, shinier, and healthier locks.
